Bernard Kriesel Memorial Flight Scholarship

The Bernard Kriesel Memorial Flight Scholarship exists to assist Coulee Region students with achieving their dreams of becoming a pilot. With funding provided by the family and estate of Bernard Kriesel, via the La Crosse Community Foundation, and other donors, the fund provides resources to local youth who are pursuing a Private Pilot’s Certificate.

Scholarships are provided on a competitive basis with between one and three scholarships being issued annually depending on available funds. This year’s scholarship is $2,500. Youth must be 15 years old and six months to apply. Well qualified applicants will have a history of flight training and/or have already started the flight training process. Funds will not be distributed until the individual can provide proof of a valid FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate.

This year’s scholarship applications are due no later than 11:59pm on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
